On this page examples of how we have completed new works will be demonstrated through photos and slide shows. We are particularly interested in how ceramic works evolve in the making process.
The first set of photos is of the building of a teapot that Owen recently made by throwing the components on the wheel.
Then the lid,
and finally a hand built handle.
The completed and fired tea pot images will be added soon....
Here is a new slide of how to add colour to a bowl when throwing.
The more clay you add the more expressive the form can be, also the further you throw a form the more twisted and dramatic the effect. (but harder to do)
So throw the clay to the opening stage, the clay should still be thick enough to cut into without knocking it off center. Add the other colour clay in this case a white. It is important that the clays a simular in make up e.g. two stonwares, if not when firing you may have some exploding issues :)
Throw the clay to the desired from
Once the clay has been left to go to a leather hard stage, cut off and flip for turning.
After turning a flash of colour will be provided.
